In previous blogs I’ve written about studies showing that acupuncture provides pain relief for some cancer patients.
In a new study that was presented at this year’s Palliative and Supportive Care in Oncology Symposium provided valuable information to cancer patients on using acupuncture as a method of pain and symptom relief.
For this study they looked at patients with different types of cancers, 375 patients who had acupuncture treatments were asked to do a survey post treatment. They were asked to compare how they felt before and after the acupuncture treatment. ‘They reported overall improvements from the very first treatment, with the greatest reduction in symptoms being seen in the frequency of hot flashes. Other notable relief was seen in their levels of nausea, numbness and tingling, and fatigue.’
