IVF, Fertility, and Acupuncture

For some, acupuncture is not only a way to relieve stress while trying to conceive, but it has also shown some promise for increasing fertility and successful IVF.

Acupuncture has been around for approximately 3000 years. Some common health conditions that most of us may know are regularly treated with acupuncture are:

Pain:

Sciatica

Low-back pain

Osteoarthritis

“Frozen shoulder”, “Tennis elbow”

Mental-Emotional:

Anxiety

Depression

Stress

Insomnia

Upper Respiratory Tract:

Acute sinusitis

Acute rhinitis

Common Cold

Acute Tonsillitis

Respiratory System:

Acute bronchitis

Bronchial asthma

These are just a few of the common health conditions that acupuncture can treat.

Fertility and helping IFV treatments are also conditions that acupuncture can help with that many aren’t aware of.

More and more studies are showing that in addition to improving sperm, egg, and embryo quality, acupuncture can also help to improve IVF success rates in other ways.

Research is available to support acupunctures’ ability to improve clinical pregnancy rates, and pregnancy outcomes and help couples who have previously failed IVF.

A different study focused on how acupuncture can help to improve IVF outcomes. Researchers found that after several acupuncture treatments, participants showed improved endometrial thickness, reduced stress, and improved patient satisfaction.
