New Study Shows Acupuncture Aids Swallowing After a Stroke.

Acupuncture aids swallowing for post-stroke dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) patients. A new study done by researchers at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Shenyang, China) found combining acupuncture with standard functional training improves outcomes for patients with dysphagia and other symptoms following a stroke.


98 patients were included in the study and were randomly placed in the acupuncture group or the control group. In the acupuncture group there where 30 cured and 18 effective cases yielding a efficacy rate of 97.96%
